William Arnett AUSTRALIA (04/29/2012) "Overtoom is located in a non touristy residential area of Amsterdam north of Vondelpark. The apartment is located on the first floor; high ceilings, large double glazed windows and french doors gives the street facing lounge/dining room a light, bright feeling. The spacious rear facing bedroom with high ceilings and large windows looks out onto the gardens of adjacent apartments. The well appointed tiled bathroom is spacious, a shower over the spa bath; ample hot water available for all four adult guests, and a large heated towel rail. The toilet is separate from the bathroom which is convenient for four persons sharing. The kitchen is fitted with a good size fridge, automatic ignition four burner gas top, microwave and dishwasher. (The refrigerator is larger than the usual small under bench refrigerators some apartments provide) An efficient 6kg automatic washing machine means tedious visits to a laundrette are not required. Two comfortable lounges and the large screen TV/DVD in the lounge for relaxing after a tough day being a tourist. The lounge folds out into a 2 person bed however we found it comfortable only for 2 lightly built persons. The owner provided a compendium of general apartment details, and also met with us to cover any queries or assistance to ensure our Amsterdam visit was even more enjoyable. Computer Internet access/TV was provided in the bedroom however internet access was at times spasmodic. A steep,but solid staircase requiring a little more care with steps than usual, leads to this first floor apartment.(Steep stairs seem to be normal in this old city of Amsterdam.) Overall we enjoyed our stay in this clean, well furnished comfortable apartment. "

Travel to and from the airport was very easy to navigate with a tram # 1 stop right in front of the apartment. A bakery was across the street and several other groceries stores were within a block. The apartment itself was exceptional clean and efficient with everything one needs to feel at home. Beds are very comfortable. Albert is a most gracious host/owner and gave good directions for the use of the items in the apartment and places to visit in and around the city. Would not hesitate to recommend and plan to return soon. "

Karl und Ulla Appel Germany (06/27/2011) "Eine sehr schöne, helle, neu sanierte Wohnung - mit traumhaftem Hinterhofflair. Man fühlte sich nicht als Tourist, sondern eher wie ein Einwohner der Stadt. Komplett ausgestattet - auch der Inhalt der Küchenschränke überraschte uns (Tee, Kaffee, Erdnussbutter, Salz, Zucker, Öl, Essig ... - alles da). Da wir im Frühsommer hier waren, war die Lage ideal. Wir haben die direkte Nähe zum Park genutzt, den wir sonst so in seiner Vielseitigkeit und Atmosphäre nicht wahrgenommen hätten. Um in das Grachtenviertel zu kommen, waren Fahrräder wirklich sehr hilfreich. Die Straßenbahn hält zwar vor der Tür, doch durch Fahrräder ist man unabhängiger. Unser Gastgeber hatte viele gute Sightseeing- und Restaurant-Tipps. Der psersönliche Kontakt war sehr angenehm."

The appartment itself is very spacious and nicely decorated, with all the necessary appliances to cook. We appreciated the attention from the owner, Albert, who was very helpful at all times, giving us any type of information we required (even about places to visit out of Amsterdam). We really felt like at home. The stairs are very steep but you soon get used to them. The only little buts are the facts that there is no washing machine and the toilet is too small. John Dunne United Kingdom (06/30/2010) "We liked this light, spacious appartment very much. The kitchen has everything you need and a versatile microwave. We wanted two beds mde up and this was done. Excellent bathroom. Although on a busy road the appartment is very quiet. The staircase to the appartment is quite steep! but you get used to it. Only 10 minutes away from the centraal station and the city centre by the No 1 tram it is in a convenient location and close by the park. Opposite the appartment is a baker's shop, and nearby is a deli and a supermarket. Since we were using public transport we chose to buy a three-day pass which we could use on trams, buses and the metro."

You leave the bustle of the Overtoom behind you once you're inside. Prima equipped apartment and personal hospitality. Even with young kids outstanding accommodation.....Uitstekend verblijf gehad in de appartement op de Overtoom voor een week in Maart! Midden in de stad en Vondelpark on de hoek. Door isolatie laat je de drukte van de Overtoom achter je zodra je binnen bent. Prima geoutilleerd appartement en persoonlijk gastvrij onthaal. Ook met jonge kids uistekend onderkomen. "
